Help Me Select A Logo
Posted on November 10th, 2009 in Onlinemasai
Online Masai has gained quite a fan base over the past few weeks since I started, and with time, I do hope the blog does become popular amongst many of you. I thank you all for your continued support. A start up blogger never finds it easy to get going and find an audience, but you guys have been fantastic and have given me tonnes of confidence to move forward.
I would like to involve you in helping me choose a logo and online identity. I will be attaching a couple of samples in a short while. In the mean time maybe you could give me ideas as to what you feel online masai’s identity should be.
Edit 1 – So here are some of the logos so far

Edit 2 – Below are the final set of logos.

My thoughts … I like No. 3 and No. 4.
In detail (and just off the cuff):
No. 3: if you go with it, consider changing the ‘.com’ colour into the grey of ‘online’. A third colour distracts the eye away from the logo centre.
No. 3 is my favorite, cuz it’s just brilliant design work. Perhaps … a tad to brilliant for a blog.
No. 4: I would recommend to experiment with a green that is a tad warmer, more ‘bush’-like. I would recommend considering to change the dot’s colour to the grey of ‘online’ as well. The red dot distracts from the moran – who is most perfectly integrated in the logo (in my view).
Although blue is a wonderful colour, I would not recommend it as part of a CI that doesn’t want to communicate a certain coldness – which is probably helpful if you are in financials or utilities since it come with a connotation of steadfastness (or something like that).
These are my thoughts. I wish you all the best with whatever you choose to go with. Congrats on your great work! – I gotta go back to my nest now. @Ndege

Thank you very much for your comments. I shall work more on the lines as you mentioned as they make perfect sense and are perfect advise.
I do have another logo idea up my sleeve and will post it as soon as its done.
You may be wondering why I am leaning towards a professional logo design as you mentioned – Perhaps … a tad to brilliant for a blog.
This is because as time goes I do want my blog to become a professional blog.

@SiennaKigera Thanks, well the audience should be able to associate with the logo. So this way I am getting an idea of what you guys think. Thanks mate.

I’m not that artistic but in terms of the name & it’s culture, number 4 and 5 look and feel best suited to the name… i quite like the shades of blue and green though, in number 2.

I like no 2 and 3. No 3 projects a professional image and will be suited for this blog since you want it to eventually be a professional blog. No 4 interests me though i would have liked to see perhaps the red masai hair yaani a real maasai in his true element. But all the same whatever you choose i think you have good logos all in all. All the best in choosing.
H!
